My first Electric train

I got this set for Xmas 1955

It was a J.C. Penney's Special for $9.99

The cars are from my original set.

The  B&O locos turned up missing when I returned from the Army

So I acquired these 2 from the Marx Co in late 1960's

and they run as good today as my original set did over 50 yrs ago

My original loco had Automatic coupler on the dummy A unit

The cars are still fairly easy to  obtain in both large and 3/16th scale wheels

the B&O Caboose comes in a variety of road numbers is desirable for collectors

The set came with 034 track , 1 switch track,

1 automatic uncoupler track & Transformer with track connector.

I've had plenty of train sets, but this one is still special to me .

A couple of railfans are out to get photos of B&O 62 A-A duo

Some more Marx Tinplate Trains

 M10000-M10005

I used to pass these by at Various train shows when I was looking

for Marx deluxe plastic cars and loco's.

Now they are some of my favorites.

I never had a s  et until 2007

Here are a some photo's of a couple that I have Acquired

Both the M10000 and the 10005 were available in a variety of paint schemes but all

were lettered for the Union Pacific Railroad.

        Coming and Going

I was surprised when it made it around

the layout 3 times on 1 windup

Red Mercury wind-up with reversing motor

My son Ben won this on E-bay

We had some problems with the motor

and he located a better one on E-bay ,

We are in the process of re-painting the loco at this time.

Will look nice with fresh coat of paint on the loco

Here is one I found on Ebay

552 Rock Island Gondola made from a recycled NYC tender

Car looks normal

Until you turn it over.

I guess it was a sheet of NYC tenders that wasn't needed

I have seen these at the Marx meet at York but it's the first

one in my collection.

E-7 Diesel Favorites

WP and Allstate

Louis Marx got his money's worth out of the mask for these

same but different paint jobs and I like all 3 of them.

--Big and Little--

Marx 0-27  and HO scale diesels

It's amazing how close all the colors match between the 2 gauges

B units were also available

No Monon cab units were made but they did make this switcher

Not the best looking GP7 or 9 but at least they made an attempt

Were these ever made

I picked this flyer from 2004 at the York TCA show.

It was in with some New Marx catalogs that I have on file. This must have been right after the Flynn's quit production

as the address on the

flyer was from the YE OLDE TRAIN & CHRISTMAS SHOPPE.

I can't recall seeing

any of these dummy units for sale.

MARX H.O. Gauge Catalog

When I was a teenager I requested a catalog from Marx.

Thinking it would be O-27 I was surprised to see it was all HO Gauge.

It was put out by the same company that did the small O-27 catalog.

Black And white catalog from Allied Toy distributors

would be the only HO catalog is the only one I ever saw .

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like the E-7 MARX did in O-27 but I wish they would have done F2-F3 or F7 plastic cab unit or even a Road Switcher for O-27 market

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

====================================================================

====================================================================

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most H.O. Locomotives and cars were available in same road names as the O-27 line.

Wish they had done that New Haven Box car in O-27.
